Thoughts of the Week

This is likely to be a bit of a mish-mash of collected thoughts based on the week just gone by. It may be the case that this post is of more therapeutic value to me than anything else but I'm discovering this to be characteristic of the blog... so nothing new this week.

The time in Sarajevo was cool. I got to mark 70 years of radio and television broadcasting in Bosnia's National Theatre; stand in the spot where Franz Ferdinand was assassinated; experience a mild earthquake... It was also the first time I've visited a place where there seems to be a mosque on every street corner rather than a church; an interesting experience. And I was reminded of how enriching it is to be part of a church service in a different country and language. The global church is a beautiful thing.

As I spent time with those who work in the ministry for Bosnia, it was great to hear what I can do as part of my work to support them. I noted down various things I could help out with and in these moments I'm reminded of how much I enjoy my work.

Then I went back to the Vienna and kicked into let's-do-everything-at-once mode. And I don't just mean work, I mean life in general. There was a bit of a hard realisation this week that I'm cramming a lot of things into my thinking and this is squeezing out my time with God. It's like I forgot everything I experienced in Lent. I'm thankful that God is eternally patient with me and has surrounded me with others who kindly point me in the right direction.

Next week is Romania and after that it'll soon be time to blog again. I'll keep you posted!
