Seeing the Light

It was Monday when I started this post... I was thinking about the fact that next Monday we'll be within touching distance of a Christmas break. All those is favour, say 'Aye'... Thought you might say that. On Sunday I had my last church presentation before Christmas. So on Monday I turned my attention to writing Christmas cards and packing the little gifts I give supporters at this time of year. I now even have that mild sense of achievement at having actually posted some things. Yes, life is pretty rock and roll right now...

It's at this point that I realise things are just starting to slow down a bit after the past few weeks of moving around. I still have a couple train journeys to make before Christmas but the end is in sight. Having been back in my home culture for over a month, there are a lot of things I'm pondering as I visit churches and supporters, and I as I make more time to watch the news than when I'm away. Part of me would like to try and articulate some of these observations; another part of me feels like I'd just like to say, I'm looking forward to the break. I recognise I am fortunate enough to have a rest coming up. Even more than that, I am fortunate enough to be able to spend Advent worshipping in different ways and in different places. The more I look at the world around me, the more I'm learning (very gradually) to value this freedom.

Sorry if these thoughts are a bit all over the place. I hope to be able to expand upon them a bit in future posts. For now, I wish you energy to get through the next week and a half and time to enjoy the true celebration of Christmas. Also, I really recommend signing up for the Advent Wonder posts from Stewardship, if you're looking for short but thought-provoking posts to get you in a different frame of mind at this time of year: Stewardship.org.uk/be-inspired/advent-wonder
